Model R6-LRO 6.1

Eye Tracking for fMRI Applications

Need

An eye tracking system specifically designed for research studies with functional MRI. The system must work with a variety of MRI equipment, a variety of visual display systems, track both eyemovement and accurate point of gaze and be non-intrusive to the patient. The system must also be reliable and easy to use and maintain.

Solution

The ASL Model R6-LRO 6.1is the first video based eye tracking system designed to meet these needs. Our long range optics module can be placed up to 16 feet from the subject, avoiding interference with the fMRI system. A small relay mirror is the only piece installed within the magnet. This system meets the needs of minimal intrusion, ease of use and easy maintenance.

Advantages

Experience, in use over 4 years with multiple reference sites (available upon request)

Has been installed in magnets ranging from 1.5 to 4T

Only system that adjusts between 60, 120 and 240 HZ with no loss of resolution

Only system allowing optics to be placed up to 16’ from the patient

Only system designed to be either permanently mounted or moveable

Eliminate set-up time when permanently mounted

Minimal adjustments between patients

Modular system, allowing the eye tracker to be used with other remote and head mounted optics when not being used in the fMRI

ASL has extensive experience custom designing and installing in fMRI environments

ASL is the only company with over 25 years experience and leadership in eye tracking technology

ASL can supply fully integrated stimulation software

System includes on-site training and installation support

SPECIFICATIONS

ASL’s Model R6 with long range optics is the first remote, video based eye tracking system designed specifically for research studies with functional MRI.

Long Range Optics Module

The long range optics module contains an eye camera with telephoto lens and illumination source in a custom built casing.  The optics module can be placed up to 16 feet from the subject, avoiding interference from the magnetic fields created by the fMRI system.  A relay mirror is provided

for installation in the fMRI to direct the optical path towards the subject’s eye. An optional fiber optic package is offered for use with the R6-LRO 6.1 to convert the composite video signal generated by the eye tracker optics module into an optical signal which is carried by the fiber optic out of the MRI scanning room.

The Model R6-LRO 6.1 comes as a complete system with all necessary hardware and software.  The ASL engineering staff works closely with each customer to build a system that meets the specifications of each environment.

The ASL R6-LRO 6.1 includes EYEPOS software to operate the eye tracker and EYENAL software to analyze the data.  Integrated stimulus software is also available.  Real time X and Y coordinates and pupil size are available via RS232 or analog outputs.
